YEMEN

I just realized it's been quite some time since I posted a blog. So much has happened recently...but I thought you might all enjoy some photos from my brief excursion to Yemen. I visited the city of Sana'a, located high in the mountains of Yemen (at about 7,500 feet). So much history and I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the city, particularly the architecture. Of course, you can still tell that Yemen is a poor country but they do try. Now, if only they would learn how to drive--I thought Italy and Turkey were bad--they don't hold a candle to the drivers in Yemen!

The first two photos are of the market in Old Sana'a. One is taken from a rooftop (for just a few dollars, we had our own escort up there) overlooking the market and the other from street level.

This last photo shows their Grand Mosque in the background. Quite an impressive building--I'm told they're Department of Education received no funding for 2 years in order to build this structure!

Quite an amazing trip! Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their summer...see you soon.
