Well, it did snow... About 6 inches, I think. Jim is supposed to be posting pics of the snow soon. I was planning on going to work, but... Had the kids all ready to go... Turned on the tv so the kids could watch cartoons while I cleaned off the car. Scraping the ice off the windows, then I hear the sound of a child crying. Ran inside to see Eric at the door crying uncontrollably. It appears that the sound of the ice scraping scared him silly (didn't bother Emma), so I have this crying child clinging to my leg and determined not to let go. So, that did it. Unwrapped the child, ran to the car to turn off the engine, and came back in. Called into work that I wasn't coming in and called the daycare and preschool to let them know that the kids weren't coming either.

Turned out to be the best thing that I could have done. Dave took the day off as well and we spent the morning outside shoveling snow with Jim. The kids had their mini-shovels and "helped" shovel too. Abby ran around and accosted Jim's sister for attention. Then after the "real" work was done, Dave and Emma built a snow fort (haven't gotten a picture of that yet or what is left of it by now) on the island while I carried Eric since he didn't like the depth of the snow, but he walked around the shoveled areas. Then Nicole came out to play and after playing in the snow on the island for about 15 minutes, off went Dave and Emma and Mena and Nicole to go sledding. Eric opted to stay behind with a VERY wet diaper, so we went inside with a VERY reluctant Abby as well. Then after naps and refreshed, we all headed over with Amy and Ethan to go sledding over by the basketball courts where there is a nice "bowl-shaped" area for the kids to sled and not have to worry about trees or rocks or bushes. It's a water run-off area as well, but there wasn't much water in the area, so it was safe for the most part. Nicole and Tony joined us a little later. So the afternoon was spent with all the kids sledding down the hill - forwards, on their bellies, backwards, solo, twosomes (even the parents went down as well). So, lots of fun was had by all. We ran into one of the kids (Jamie) from the daycare when Emma had attended, so she and Emma had a blast sledding as well!
We got lots of snow, but it melted pretty well in the afternoon, only to ice up overnight, as expected. Wish you were here to join us in the snow fun!
